by John Duran The Mount Miguel Matadors won the school's only CIF team championship this year after defeating the Knights of Foothills Christian 12-1 in five innings at UCSD Friday afternoon. The Matadors were lead by starting pitcher Stephanie Herrera to earn the school's first CIF softball title in 20 years. "I'm just really proud of my team at the moment," Herrera, who only gave up four hits with one unearned run over five innings, said. "Going into this game everybody thought we were going to lose just because we lost yesterday but we just came and gave it our all and put our hearts on the field." "MVP all the way," Head Coach Kevin Darby said of Herrera's performances throughout the playoffs. "She pitched five out of six games. I think five out of six games we scored more than 10 runs.
