Back To School Night

Wednesday, September 27

5:30 pm – 8:00 pm





We would like to invite you to attend our Back to School Night on Wednesday, September 27th. Please come celebrate the beginning of the 17/18 school-year, meet with your student’s teachers, and receive information about the content and course requirements for each class.

5:30 – 6:00 pm Parent meeting in the Gym

College Corner and Resources Fair in the Library

Title 1 Parent Meeting at 4:30 in the Gym

Title 1 Parent meeting will be before the parent meeting in the gym.  Elections for school site council will take place at that time.  See below for more info.

  • $9.95 Cox High Speed Internet!
    Did you know your family may be eligible for discounted internet.  See the flyer for details or apply here.

  • Chromebook Insurance for is available for purchase until September 30th.
    It is $28.95 for a one year plan that can be renewed annually.  Warranty program covers 100% parts and labor, accidental damage, as well as theft. There is no deductible. It is highly recommended.

  • Matador Tutoring Center (MTC)
    MTC is Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 3:15-4:15. For a complete listing of tutoring subjects and locations, check out the schedule.

  • Saturday Scholars
    Saturday Scholars will begin again in October.  This program provides support to students on Saturday mornings.  Teachers are on campus to provide help in all subjects.  All students are welcome to attend.  Look for more details in the next weeks update and on the website.

Athletics Update:

Football
Mount Miguel 20-Imperial 14
The Mount Miguel Matadors shut out the host Imperial Tigers in the first half, then held off the hosts, 20-14, for a non-league victory at Shimamoto-Simpson Stadium Friday night.

Volleyball
Mount Miguel 3-Lincoln 0
The Lady Matadors posted a win on Tuesday night to take their record to 4 and 3.

Activity Update

Our after school programs are in full swing. There is something to do everyday. Check out the schedule.

BASE is also open from 12:30-4:30 PM. BASE is a safe space for students to socialize, play games, or get some some homework done in a supervised and fun environment.

Final Week to buy Chromebook Insurance

The Chromebook Insurance program is well worth the money.  The last day to buy insurance is September 30th. See the Future Forward website for all the details.

(Exception: If you are a new student, you may purchase insurance on the last two calendar dates of the month that you enroll at a school)




Title 1 Parents Meeting before Back to School Night

September 27th, 2017 @4:30 pm

Please join us at our Annual Title I Meeting, where we will review:

  • MMHS’ Participation in the Title I program
  • Title I Parent Involvement Policy and Parent-School Compact
  • Parental Rights under Title I
  • Title I Services and Programs
  • MMHS Student curriculum, assessments, and proficiency levels
  • Offer opportunity for Parent Input and Involvement
  • School Site Council Parent Elections
The purpose of Title I funding is to “ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging state academic achievement standards and state assessments” (Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965, 20 U.S.C. 6301).

Mount Miguel School Site Council Parent Nomination


What is the School Site Council?

The School Site Council is an elected group of parents, teachers, students and staff who
work together to improve Mount Miguel High School’s educational programs. School site
councils were developed in response to California law, which requires them to allocate and
monitor the Title I Funding, as well as to develop and oversee the School Plan for Student
Achievement. We will be meeting at least five times in the school year.

How can you get involved?

Parents interested in serving nominate themselves and then are elected to a two-year term the
position. Duties entail attending about 4 meetings per year. If you wish to be considered for
election, submit this form below to the front office or Emmanuel Pizano in room 341, by
September 26th, 2017. You can email your information and statement as well to
epizano@guhsd.net. Parent elections will be held this year at back-to-school night on
September 27th, 2016.
