Principal's Update
Less than two months before finals- Welcome to Week 12! In preparation of first semester ending in six weeks, please encourage your student to keep three key things in mind:
1. Say to your student: Do not be over confident with early success, keep moving! Sometimes students take their foot off of the gas pedal when they have experienced a ton of success. Remind him/her how they got to where they are and encourage a strong finish. Check in with teachers if you have questions and stay current on Infinite Campus.
2. Say to your student: Be reflective, remember where you've been! If your student experiences some struggle or spent time completing missing work and/or completing test make-ups, remind them of what held up their success and to plan differently. The last six weeks are going to fly by and passing classes with a "C" or better keeps your student on the CSU/UC college bound list. Remember that the Matador Tutoring Center is available three days a week as well as Saturday Scholars.
3. Say to your student: Start preparing for finals now! It is never too early to plan for success. Perhaps have your student begin with listing out final products/projects/exams and due dates. Review any notes and supplemental materials that will help them finish the semester strong. Encourage your student to connect with a study buddy and calendar in dates.
I look forward to celebrating first semester success in January. Make it great day Matadors.
